Most of the days, I would wake up in my room late in the morning when I could see the sun up in the sky through my window. The noise of the people could sometimes be heard, right from the street to the fourth floor on my apartment. But that day was different as we had gone for a trip to Kanyakumari. We reached early morning to catch the glimpse of the Indian Ocean and the sunrise. However, we were very much surprised when we reached the rocky beach.
We had expected a quiet beach (having gone for the first time). To our surprise, hundreds of people had already gathered, occupying every nook and corner of that beach. Many had cameras in their hand. Some were laughing and talking with friends, some were sitting silently and yet some were looking at the sky with an anticipation to watch something spectacular. Only then we realized how special it was there, at Kanyakumari, to view the sunrise. People were waiting before dawn so that they wouldn’t miss this amazing sight.
The darkness was disappearing fast, allowing the sky to be filled with colors. The horizon quickly turned to a faint crimson-red-colored-beautiful-canvas and slowly began to deepen. People had started to fight to gain a high spot so that they could capture the rising burning-red-dawning-sun. We were lucky to find a good spot (not nice though).
Then the main event began. From the ocean, a big crimson ball of fire emerged. MAGNIFICENT, MAJESTIC, MESMERIZING… words are failing to describe it. The water sparkled with the fusion of the bright sunlight making it a golden ocean. There was unanimous cry of satisfaction and joy heard across the entire beach. Hundreds of pictures were clicked and the beach was covered with flashing lights.
Indeed, a celebrity had arrived.
The sunset was equally spectacular. We went to a view point to catch the glimpse of the it. Viewing the ocean with the rays saturated in it is truly a memorable one.
If you are ever planning to visit Kanyakumari, then you have to watch both sunrise and sunset. It will be the best experience you will ever get there.
(NOTE: The experience at the sunrise were soul-stirring, but the images taken at the time of sunset were amazing <3. All the images are presented without editing.)
