A day well spent
Finally, a day off from work.
There was a strike (please don’t ask me why, I don’t know) in the road transportation and the bus and auto-rickshaw union were supporting the strike. A much needed relief from a hectic schedule. But no time to lose, I don’t want to waste my time in sleeping off. So for the first time, I decided to plan my day out (I am too bad at it 🙁 ).
The first thing I did was to reorganize my stuff – my books, bed, baggage, etc. My study table had become a waste table and I haven’t cleaned it for God knows how long. Hence I started organizing it, bit by bit, throwing movie stubs, used bus tickets, old receipts and hundreds of unwanted things. Then the process of cleaning them, keeping the books and notebooks into nice little stacks and categorizing them began. After an hour of hard labor, I patted my back in appreciation.
It’s not that I like being around unclean and unhygienic places. Cleaning requires patience, demands time and effort and I am too lazy for all that. Who wants to trade a nice nap for a boring job of cleaning 🙂 ? But sometimes the eyes of my mind open and my senses realize that in what a mess I am living in. Then I pick up a broom and dustpan and start cleaning till everything looks nice and tidy. Sometimes I think my mind works like the Newton’s laws of inertia, i.e., when my mind is lazy and wants rest, it tends to stay in that state unless an external force is applied (the external force being my friends telling me how nasty it has become or the occasional scolding by my mom on the phone to live neatly and healthily).
Anyways after 3 hours of cleaning, dusting and organizing, everything looked nice and well arranged. I was satisfied with my work.
What’s next? Still half a day to spare. MOVIES!!!
Who could miss the next Avengers? So I started pursuing my friends and after a while of coaxing, (unfortunately my friends are also governed by the same laws of Newton) I convinced them to go to the theater. The movie was full of action, sci-fi stuff and I was a big fan of all that, not to mention the awesomeness of the Avengers. Although I felt Ultron was not that strong and the movie was little less exciting than the first one, it still was highly entertaining (the action scene of Iron man and the Hulk was fant-ass-kick).
After enjoying two and half hours amazingly, we came out only to find the havoc caused by the rains. One thing I love about the weather of Bangalore is the rain here is very timely. If it rains in the afternoon, then for the next 3-4 days you can expect the rains at exactly the same time, in the afternoon or evening. As the show got over at six in the evening, the rain had already stopped as expected. We could only see the after-effects. All the time we were enjoying the movie, there had been a hailstorm accompanied by a fiery shower making the big banners decorating the streets tear and fall apart, branches of trees bent down to the road and streets having pools of water stocked.
Luckily the rain has stopped and we could reach home comfortably. A thought came to my mind that I should have spent the day more productively, but sometimes we need to enjoy and relax.
At last, I think it was a day WELL SPENT!!!
